The radio controlled sailing ship
The exactly design and construction of a Americas Cup ship model is absolutly out of the capacities any modeler, but some of this style will be good.
As usual, the first step is to prepare the project drawings.

This is the ship lines drawing area where we obtain the frames shape and also we can perform all the ship related calculations.
Starting of AutoCAD drawings, is possible perform 3D modeling.
Starting of AutoCAD 3D modeling, we can perform also 3D animations
To perform 3D animations we use 3D Studio MAX.
In this case we are not to explain the hull construction process. Instead of this, we explain to you the sail control system.

The hull construction is similar to the:

Here can be see the sailing ship in functional full condition, finished and decorated as the 3D Studio MAX animations. (Different colors, of course)

Thees are differents photos of the sailing ship

The stern is majestic
The rudder arms area is designed to be used by two helmsmen at the same time.

Now we go to see as is assembled inside de ship the sail control.
This picture shows the assembling system of the sail servo and the radio receiver.
Depending of the servo horn angle is possible to release or to attract more or minus chord (nylon made) to the sails. The same servo handle both sails. Another servo is used to the rudder control. Operating this two servos is possible to steer the sail ship in the same manner as the real one.
This sail ship have not motor, only the wind is used as propulsion. When turns the servo horn moves also the transparent plastic part attached to it. If the plastic part is in bow-stern position, the sails are released and in the starboard-port position the sails are tightened.
Finally, we set sail and and enjoys of the sail ship navigation.

Is absolutely incredible to see it in navigation.
